      (Newser) - Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi’s son called the families of Lockerbie victims “very greedy” in their negotiations for compensation, the Independent reports. They leveraged “the blood of their sons and daughters” for “more money and more money" after the 1988 airline attack, said Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, seen as a likely successor to his father. He also told BBC that Libya took responsibility for the attack, which killed 270 people, only to get sanctions lifted and may someday be cleared. More »

      (Newser) - Three British citizens have been charged with terror offenses for allegedly plotting to assassinate Gordon Brown, the Guardian reports. The suspects, who will appear in court in London today, belong to a group calling itself Al-Qaeda in Britain. They are accused of everything from soliciting murder to inviting support of a terrorist organization, although it's believed that no detailed plans were in place to kill the prime minister. More »

      (Newser) - In London yesterday, prosecutors introduced “martyrdom videos” as evidence against eight British Muslims accused of plotting to destroy US-bound airliners in 2006, the Times   reports. One video, found in a man’s garage, envisioned “your people’s body parts responsible for these wars and oppression decorating the streets.” The prosecutor also said some of the men discussed, in wiretapped conversations, bringing their wives and children with them on their suicide missions, AP reports.       (Newser) - An Islamic terrorist cell plotted a suicide mission to blow up seven transatlantic airliners in midflight, killing more than 1,500 passengers, a prosecutor charged yesterday as a trial began for eight men in London.       (Newser) - An extremist preacher who called himself "Osama bin London" has been convicted of organizing terrorist training camps and promoting murder, the London Times reports. Mohammed Hamid trained five of the terrorists who undertook a thwarted attack at outdoor sights in suburban London. He mocked the death toll from the 7/7 London bombings: "Fifty-two? That's not even a breakfast to me." Three others were convicted of attending the training camps. More »

      (Newser) - Terrorist plotters behind bungled bombings in London and Glasgow six months ago have been linked to an al-Qaeda group in Iraq. The bombings are the first attacks attempted by the group Al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia outside the Mideast, reports the New York Times . The plotters drove a vehicle packed with gas cannisters into a Glasgow airport terminal, causing only a fire. Explosives in two cars parked outside a London nightclub failed to detonate. More »

      (Newser) - Saudi Arabia’s Prince Bandar bin Sultan claims the 9/11 attacks could have been prevented if the US had consulted the kingdom in a "credible" way.       (Newser) - A man who cops say crashed a Jeep full of explosives into a Glasgow airport a month ago has died of his injuries, the AP reports. Kafeel Ahmed suffered critical burns during the attack and died without emerging from a subsequent coma at a local hospital. Police say he attacked the airport on June 30, the morning after two unsuccessful car bombings in London. More »

      (Newser) - The re-detention of a doctor held in Australia in connection with the Britain terror plot has prompted charges that  the government is interfering in the judicial process.
