Clinton 2008

Hillary Clinton's 2008 Presidential campaign fell short, so what now for the Senator?

Hillary Clinton's historic race for the White House in 2008 is now over, a hard-fought, often bitter campaign that ran right into Barack Obama's history making turn. While she has predicted a 'zero chance' of seeking the Presidency again in 2012, it seems unlikely her political ambitions will peak with her Senatorial post. Talk has been floated about a Supreme Court appointment, is this her future? Stay tuned.

Don't Count Your Black Votes Yet, Barack

(Newser) - Never mind his skin color—Barack Obama doesn't have a record that can guarantee black turnout, writes inquirer Harold Jackson. Prominent African American leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are still undecided, and Obama will have to court that constituency just like rival Hillary Clinton did. More »

      GOP Gains in Head-to-Head Matches

(Newser) - The smart money says the 2008 election is the Democrats' to lose,  but a surprising Time poll has the Democratic front runners narrowly losing to the Repubican front runners in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups. Hillary Clinton loses to John McCain 42%-48%, and to Rudy Giuliani 41%-50%. Obama, behind Clinton in the polls, fares better: 43%-45% to McCain, 44%-45% to Giuliani. More »

      Records Reveal Hawkish Hillary

(Newser) - Hillary  may be more hawkish than liberal supporters realize, Michael Crowley concludes after a lengthy look at the senator's history . Many assume she supported the Iraq war to look tough and won’t back down to avoid the label of flip-flopper. But long before 9/11, she was scornful of those who support  military action only in easily winnable,  "splendid little wars."   More »

      Bloggers Battle Over Hillary Hoax

(Newser) - Conservative blogs went into overdrive Tuesday when an audio clip of Hillary Clinton "putting on" a southern drawl began circulating, but the accent was more miscalculated than counterfeit. The clip was culled from a speech in Selma in which Clinton quoted a hymn written in vernacular. Conservative commentators went to town, chiding her for trying to pass off the dialect as her own, calling it "Hillary-fried chicken."  More »
