Celebrity private detective Anthony Pellicano was found guilty today of 76 of the 77 charges he faced, including racketeering, wire fraud, and illegal wiretapping, the Los Angeles Times reports. Pellicano, 64, could face a life sentence after prosecutors won conviction on charges he illegally threatened and placed several prominent celebrities under surveillance at the behest of his clients.

A Missouri woman has been indicted in the case of a teenage girl who killed herself after receiving cruel messages on MySpace, the AP reports. The woman, Lori Drew, is charged with pretending to be a teenage boy on the site and having a helper taunt the 13-year-old victim. Drew faces up to 20 years in prison on counts of conspiracy and accessing protected computers.

Austria made crime headlines again yesterday when a man walked into a Vienna police station and confessed to killing five family members with an ax, CNN reports. He killed his wife and 7-year-old daughter, as well as his parents and father-in-law in other cities, a police spokesman said. Police found the five bodies with ax wounds. The man cited “financial difficulties” as his motive.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the wildfires scorching Florida, CNN reports. Brian Crowder, 31, was captured after being seen lighting a small fire in a field and running twice from police. "I am not saying that he is the individual connected to this arson … but I can tell you we have made an arrest," a local police chief says.

The woman accused of arranging the infamous liaison between "Kristen" and "Client No. 9" pleaded guilty today, the New York Times reports. Temeka Rachelle Lewis, 32, admitted to charges of promoting prostitution and money laundering in the bust that brought about Eliot Spitzer's downfall. She could face up to 25 years in prison.

Rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison yesterday, following her conviction on two counts of assault for shooting her friend in the stomach. The self-proclaimed "Queen of New York" broke down in tears at the sentencing, which was somewhat more lenient than expected, reports MTV. The judge may have been swayed by an emotional statement Ma made, in which she apologized to her victim.

Starting next year throughout the US, rape victims will be able to take an anonymous forensic rape test in the ER and save the evidence in case they want to press charges. The so-called "Jane Doe" kits will be paid for by states, reports the AP. "Sometimes the issue of actually having to make a report to police can be a barrier to victims," says a forensic nurse.

The gang has struck 11 times in 18 months to grab $2.5 million in jewelry, and they've been getting busier as the price of gold continues to climb. Cops aren't sure why the brazen thieves keep hitting JCPenney stores but suspect one of the culprits is an insider.

An admitted New Jersey pedophile snared by a global Interpol appeal was an entertainer at children's parties and was dubbed one of the area's "best Santas," AP reports. Prosecutors say 58-year-old Wayne Anthony Corliss, who was arrested at his apartment, has admitted having sex with young boys in Thailand. Police have found boys' underwear and child pornography in his home, according to authorities.
