      Major league pitcher Joe Kennedy died unexpectedly today while visiting the Tampa Bay area for a wedding. The cause of death is unknown, although his agent speculated that a brain aneurysm or heart attack may be responsible.       ST. PETERSBURG -- Carlos Pena's season ended weeks ago, but the accolades keep coming in for the Rays' fantastic first baseman. On Tuesday, The Sporting News named Pena the first baseman on its American League All-Star roster, which will appear in the Oct. 22nd issue of the magazine. This nod, from voting by Major League players and managers, came two weeks after Pena was named AL Comeback Player of the Year.
