      If Joe Torre became available, do you think Dayton Moore would give him a call? -- Todd F., Wichita, Kan. Maybe to congratulate him on what has been a Hall-of-Fame career with the Yankees. Even if Torre wanted to manage elsewhere, Kansas City doesn't seem a logical destination. Not that he wouldn't fit in. I've known Torre since he played for the Cardinals, and he's always been adaptable to his surroundings. The way he's handled the Bronx Zoo, with the demands of the fans, the media, the players and, of course, the owner, has been phenomenal. Not that Torre would think he's too good for K.C....

      (Newser) - Alex Rodriguez reached another milestone in his outstanding season yesterday in Kansas City, knocking in his 50th and 51st home runs as the Yanks trounced the Royals 11-5. It's the first 50-plus home run season for a Yankee since 1961, when both Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris accomplished the feat. A-Rod now holds the single season record by a third baseman. More »
