      (Newser) - Multi-millionaire soccer superstar David Beckham scored his first goal on this side of the pond last night, hammering home a free kick in the 27th minute of the Los Angeles Galaxy's 2-0 win over D.C. United. The giant hoopla that accompanied Becks' arrival in California with his ex-Spice Girls wife, Victoria, had deflated in recent weeks as he cooled his heels on the sidelines with an injured ankle.
