      (Newser) - Johan Franzen scored 1:48 into overtime, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators and a 3-2 lead in their first-round series. Valtteri Filppula, who scored Detroit's first goal, poked the puck away and Franzen ended up with it and beat Dan Ellis with a backhander. More »

      (Newser) - Kris Draper's tiebreaking goal went off an opponent, Nick Lidstrom scored when one of his teammates could've been called for a penalty and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Nashville Predators 4-2 today to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series. In Game 1, the Red Wings took advantage of what appeared to be good fortune when offsides wasn't called just before they scored the game-winning goal. More »

      Zetterberg Leads Wings Over Predators

      (Newser) - Henrik Zetterberg broke a tie at 6:54 of the third period and added an empty-net goal, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night in the postseason opener for both teams. Dominik Hasek, playing in his 116th playoff game, made 19 saves for the top-seeded Wings. More »

      Kane, Lalime Lead Hawks in 3-1 Win

      (Newser) - NHL rookie scoring leader Patrick Kane recorded his 20th goal and had an assist, and Patrick Lalime made 29 saves in the Chicago Blackhawks' 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Friday night. Rookies Jonathan Toews and Adam Burish also scored for Chicago, which won its fourth straight.       (Newser) - J.P. Dumont scored the tying goal and assisted on the game-winner as the Nashville Predators beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 Thursday night. Jerred Smithson and Greg de Vries also scored and Jan Hlavac had three assists to help the Predators beat the Blues for the second time in three nights.       (Newser) - Buffalo’s playoff hopes remain alive – for at least one more day. The Sabres, battling every step of the way, overcame the Bruins in a 2-1 overtime win tonight.       (Newser) - The Devils stopped the bleeding last night, ending a five-game winless skid with a 5-4 shootout victory over Philadelphia.       (Newser) - Despite Alex Ovechkin's record breaking 61st goal of the season, and a 3-2 besting of Carolina, the Caps needed more, the Washington Post reports—like a win in regulation. Thanks to Viktor Kozlov's effort in the shootout, Washington earned two points, but a net gain of only one on the 'Canes, leaving Carolina still four points ahead in the Southeast with five games left.       Predators Slip By Blackhawks

      (Newser) - The Nashville Predators broke a six-game home losing streak today with a 2-1 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks, reports the Associated Press. Rich Peverley and Alexander Radulov both scored on goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, as the Predators improved to 3-5 in shootouts. Dan Ellis stopped 2 of 3 attempts in the shootout and had 37 saves for Nashville, which moved within 2 points of Colorado for the West's final playoff spot. More »

      Red Wings Pounce on Predators, 6-3

      (Newser) - They’ve already clinched the division title, but that hasn’t stopped Detroit from continuing their domination.  The Red Wings rolled over the Nashville Predators tonight, 6-3, giving Dominik Hasek his 385th career win in goal.  He’s now tied with Mike Vernon for 10th place all-time, reports the AP.       (Newser) - The Columbus Blue Jackets’ backup net minder Fredrik Norrena stopped 18 shots en route to his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Calgary Flames.       (Newser) - Chicago net minder Corey Crawford, appearing in just his sixth career game, made 44 saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Red Wings defeated the Blackhawks 3-1; Detroit out shot Chicago 47-20.       (Newser) - Detroit scored three power-play goals, two by Johan Franzen, and held off a third-period Nashville rally, to win 4-3 at Joe Louis Arena. Dominik Hasek stopped a breakaway with two minutes left to clinch the victory, reports the AP.       (Newser) - Everyone was waiting for Jarome Iginla to score his franchise-record-setting 356th goal for the Flames, but that didn't happen against the Blue Jackets.
