Washington St. No Match for Mighty Tar Heels

(Newser) - North Carolina averaged 110 points in its first two games of the NCAA tournament but was held to a mere 68 tonight against Washington State. Didn't matter. The 21-point spread was the smallest margin of victory for UNC so far this tournament and was produced largely without the contributions of star Tyler Hansbrough early in the game. More »

ODU Knocks Off Virginia in OT

(Newser) - Virginia's erasure of an 11-point second half deficit was too little too late, the AP reports.  Even after pulling ahead in OT, 85-81, the fourth-seeded Cavaliers couldn't stop a 7-0 run by fifth-seed Old Dominion, capped off by the Lady Monarchs' Jazzmin Walters sinking a decisive three-pointer with little more than four seconds to play to win it 88-85. UNC Makes It Look Easy —Again

(Newser) - There’s little question why North Carolina was ranked the No. 1 seed overall in the NCAA tournament:  in their first two games they’ve outscored their opponents 221-150, looking more like an NBA team than a college one. Today’s victim was 9th-seeded Arkansas, which lost to the Tar Heels 108-77. Wayne Ellington was UNC’s high scorer of the day with 20 points. More »
