      (Newser) - USC star OJ Mayo received tens of thousands of dollars from the agency that would eventually represent him, a violation of NCAA rules, according to former friend Louis Johnson. The money was allegedly funneled through one Rodney Guillory, who lavished on Mayo just a fraction of what the agency gave him.       Stanford Hires Duke's Dawkins as Coach

      (Newser) - Johnny Dawkins, a longtime assistant coach at Duke, has been hired as Stanford's new men's basketball coach. Dawkins replaces Pac-10 Coach of the Year Trent Johnson, who left for LSU earlier this month, two people close to the situation said today. Both people requested anonymity because Stanford had not made an official announcement, which could come as soon as Monday. More »

      (Newser) - Thanks to Joey Dorsey’s domination of the boards and of UCLA’s Kevin Love, Memphis is headed to the NCAA championship game for the first time since 1973, reports the Commercial Appeal . Dorsey had 15 rebounds and held Love to 12 points and nine rebounds as the Tigers beat the Bruins 78-63 last night.       Wiggins, Stanford Top Maryland, Head to Final Four

      (Newser) - Candice Wiggins scored 41 points as the Stanford Cardinal beat the top-seeded Maryland Terrapins 98-87 to advance to the Women's Final Four for the first time in 11 years. The three-time Pac-10 player of the year went 10-for-22 from the field, including 5-of-11 on 3-pointers, and made 16-of-19 free throw attempts, according to the Associated Press. More »

      (Newser) - D.J. Augustin had 21 points, seven assists and triggered a 20-3 second half run as Texas broke open a one-point game and defeated third-seeded Stanford, 82-62. Augustin scored eight points during that stretch and fed Damion James on a big-time dunk that brought a roar from the partisan crowd. James had 18 points while early-round star A.J.
