I'm laughing at your remark, Kokuaguy. Most Republicans object to 'government funds' being used, not 'private funds'. Grass-roots Repubs push for this sort of thing. (Something to chew on: Even studies have shown that Republicans are even more charitable givers than Democrats.)

Excuse me, UrUndertaker, I am by no means anti-Democrat. I happen to like Clinton & are very much nostalgic for his presidency. Please don't make assumptions about my political leanings. I don't appreciate the vitriol in your tone, as I was merely trying to point out the diplomatic reasonings behind some of the criticisms Clinton is receiving. Why cannot commenters on Newser make genuine comments without receiving sh-t smeared in their faces?

Kokuaguy, we can only hope to have a peaceful & just world when we have peaceful & just leaders. Kim Jong Il is not included in that party. Suitehart makes a good point to note Chamberlain & how he poorly handled the burgeoning fascist movement across Europe. He too was hopeful that peaceful negotiations would solve problems Hitler.

I don't think we should hide the truth & history from our children. We should respectfully introduce them to the harsher side of life. Obama is giving his children a wonderful gift by taking them to these places wrought once by despair.

Government should not be in the marriage business, period. The government should grant civil unions to heterosexual & homosexual couples who want one & leave the blessing of "marriage" to religious institutions to bestow as they see fit.
