She has a special gift for turning criticism into persecution, he notes

Jon Stewart was so happy to see that a prominent victim of the Tucson shootings has experienced a “miraculous recovery,” he said on last night’s Daily Show. Yes, it’s true, Sarah Palin was up and talking on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show Monday, proving she’s bounced back from being “unfairly linked to the shootings.” Stewart’s favorite part of the interview—or, as he called it, the “Palin and Hannity Cognitive Dissonance Hour: Special Victims Unit”—was Palin’s repeated insistence on “complaining vociferously about a wrong being done to you, whilst casually committing said wrong yourself with no awareness.”

One example: After her valid complaint that the Tucson tragedy was, as Stewart agreed, “unduly and unnecessarily politicized,” she went on to call the alleged gunman “an apolitical, or perhaps even left-leaning criminal.” Stewart wondered, “Is it possible, governor, that you have become a lightning rod less for your clarity of vision but more for your ability to turn any criticism of you into persecution of you, while still very casually being able to dismiss a pretty large portion of America?”—and then went on to invite her on his show.
