In this true-life love story, Gordon, 94, and Norma Yeager, 90, were married for 72 years. Norma agreed to marry him after her high school graduation, and for the next seven decades, the two went on to build a family and a bond that made it so that they were never far from one another. It was at an intersection of Highway 30 near Marshalltown, Illinois, last week where their fairytale would change. State troopers said Gordon pulled in front of an oncoming car, reports KCCI-TV. The couple was taken to the ICU of the local hospital, where they continually held hands despite their injuries.

Gordon died at 3:38pm still holding his wife's hand with their family around them. Norma followed exactly an hour later. "It was really strange, they were holding hands, and dad stopped breathing but I couldn't figure out what was going on because the heart monitor was still going," said their son. "The nurse checked and said that's because they were holding hands and it's going through them. Her heart was beating through him and picking it up." Read the full article. (More marriage stories.)
