(Newser) – Michelle Obama capped a media blitz that included visits to Good Morning America and the View with an appearance on the Daily Show last night. The first lady, ostensibly promoting her new cookbook, didn't take the bait when Jon Stewart asked about her husband's pot-smoking high school years, which the host likened to "the script of a Cheech and Chong movie." "And he really buckled down, he transferred schools, went to Columbia, and thought about how to use his life to the fullest." When Stewart noted that her approval ratings were much higher than her husband's, making her like "ice cream" to the country, she quipped that Obama was more like vegetables. She defended Joe Biden, who the host likened to an uncle who brings guns to family events. "I love Joe," she said. "He's a great vice president and he's a great friend. My kids hang around with him and I'm good with it." (Read more Michelle Obama stories.)
