Mitt Romney's campaign is looking to Barack Obama's own buddies for help attacking the president. A new ad shows Hillary Clinton slamming Obama for negative ads in 2008, the New York Daily News notes. "Shame on you, Barack Obama," she says. The narrator says Obama lied about Clinton then and accuses him of doing the same today about Romney's tenure at Bain. And "when a president doesn’t tell the truth, how can we trust him to lead?"

The ad is a response to Obama's attacks that Romney shut down scores of businesses and laid off their employers while at Bain, and it suggests that Romney has finally decided to fight back against the charges, writes Jonathan Lemire. The ad is appearing as the Boston Globe reports Romney was CEO of Bain years longer than he'd said. (More Mitt Romney stories.)
