George W. Bush sat down with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show last night, making what NPR calls a "relatively rare appearance on national TV." (As he explained to Leno, with the late night host "about to head out to pasture," the former president "just wanted to see what you looked like before you got to the gate.") Bush has famously taken up painting since leaving the White House; he told Leno the hobby "changed my life"—and then presented the host with a portrait he'd done of Leno. "I can't make fun of him now," Leno moaned. (More Jay Leno stories.)
