Some things are best left to the experts—or Hollywood stuntmen. A Florida man learned this the hard way when he attempted to re-enact an elaborate gunplay scene from the 1993 movie Tombstone and dropped his gun; it fired, the stray bullet struck his sister Renee Chaires in the neck, and she died. Eric Stayton, 50, had been hosting a birthday party for 39-year-old Chaires and her 23-year-old daughter, reports the Tallahassee Democrat.

Stayton has not been charged, reports the New York Daily News, though the investigation is pending. Apparently Stayton had been twirling his gun in the air in front of about a dozen friends and family members and dropped it when he attempted to slide it into his holster. The loaded weapon fired when it hit the concrete floor. (A similar accident proved less fatal when a professor shot himself in the foot in front of his chemistry class.)
