Nowitzki had 34 points on the night that gave him a career total of 16,644 points surpassing Rolando Blackman...   (Associated Press)

"When we don't match the level of intensity, we struggle—especially defensively," said Nuggets coach George Karl—and his team certainly did struggle against a whirlwind Jazz team that triumphed 132-105. Utah's 11 three-pointers left them with a 73% record from beyond the arc, better than the team's overall field goal and free-throw rates, reports the Denver Post. Elsewhere in the NBA:

  • Dallas ended a three-game slide with a 111-91 victory over Jason Kidd's old New Jersey teammates in a game that saw Dirk Nowitzki set the Mavericks' new all-time scoring mark.
  • The desperate Clippers weren't able to take down the league's worst road team, and Minnesota left LA with a 99-96 win.
