This Year's Finalists for Toy Hall of Fame

(Newser) – The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, NY, is out with this year's nominees for induction. They range from the specific (Super Soaker) to the general (puppet). Inductees will be announced in early November, and anyone can vote. The 12 nominees:

  • American Girl dolls
  • Battleship
  • Coloring book
  • Jenga
  • PLAYMOBIL (maybe best known for its 3-inch-tall figurines)
  • Puppet
  • Scooter
  • Super Soaker
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Top
  • Twister
  • Wiffle Ball

"We try to come up with a list of finalists that do represent different kinds of play," curator Patricia Hogan tells the Democrat and Chronicle. "We like to have board games as well as puppets and balls, a broad spectrum of classic toys." Voting is open to all at the museum's website. (Read more toys stories.)
