A driver in Montreal apparently got a little too carried away while grooving to a favorite song. Now he's going to court to defend his singing voice. When 38-year-old Taoufik Moalla got pulled over, officers asked if he'd been screaming, per the Montreal Gazette. No, Moalla replied, he'd merely been singing along to "Everybody Dance Now" by C+C Music Factory. The officers, unswayed, then issued a $118 ticket for "screaming in a public place."
"I don't know if my voice was very bad and that's why I got the ticket, but I was very shocked," Moalla tells CTV. He's now waiting for a court date so he can explain to the judge what happened and presumably avoid the fine for disturbing the peace. Moalla likens his situation to happy Montreal fans screaming in their cars when the Canadiens win a hockey game. His wife may have the best take of all, though: She's heard him sing and thinks the fine should be doubled. (Read more weird crimes stories.)
