The Midwest is best—at least when it comes to living a relatively stress-free life. WalletHub took a look at nearly 40 stress indicators related to work, family, money, and health, in all 50 states and DC to determine the most and least stressed states. Its list suggests anxiety rises as one moves closer to the southern border. The top five states in each category:

Most stressed:

1. Louisiana
2. New Mexico
3. West Virginia
4. Mississippi
5. Nevada

Least stressed:

1. Minnesota
2. North Dakota
3. Utah
4. Iowa
5. South Dakota
