Hollywood luminaries showed up in all their finery at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, kicking off the Oscars festivities in both elegant and irreverent attire. Perhaps generating the biggest buzz on the red carpet, per Page Six: Pose actor and Tony Award winner Billy Porter, who swept in wearing a Christian Siriano black velvet tuxedo ... dress. "Shutting the carpet down In a Siriano velvet tuxedo gown!" the designer himself tweeted after Porter made his debut. Joining Porter in making a splash:

  • Eighth Grade star Elsie Fisher and Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina, who both made their mark as "the queens of pantsuits," per MTV. Fisher wore a three-piece Thom Browne number, while Awkwafina showed up in a sparkly pink Dsquared2 outfit, per ETOnline.com. Meanwhile, best actress nominee Melissa McCarthy wore a sleek black-and-white pantsuit complete with cape, per Good Housekeeping.
  • News.com.au reports on all of the stars who were pretty in pink, including Green Book star Linda Cardellini, singer Kacey Musgraves, actress Angela Bassett, and comedian Maya Rudolph.
  • Nominated BlackKkKlansman director Spike Lee supplemented his wardrobe with two props from 1989's Do the Right Thing: two huge knuckle rings that said "love" and "hate."
