It'll be a fight to the death on a private island—just without anyone actually dying. A listing on luxe shopping site Hush Hush spotted by IGN has generated some media attention due to its unusual nature. It seeks a "talented game maker" to design the arena for a "100-person battle-royale" that an anonymous Hush Hush customer wants to stage on an island. Competitors would be armed with Airsoft guns and touch-sensitive body armor, and fight 12 hours a day over three days, with the last person standing to walk with a $130,000 prize. The event needs to be "as realistic as possible," per the listing; the design gig, which is expected to last six weeks, pays roughly $60,000.

"Battle Royale games have become incredibly popular over the last few years ago and our customer is a huge fan who wants to make the game a reality in the safest way possible," explains Hush Hush, which sells must-haves like bottled oxygen from Everest, $71,000 watches, and crystal adorned vacuums, per the AV Club and Esquire. Esquire offers a history lesson, explaining the Battle Royale was a Japanese novel in which junior high students are made to fight to the death. It spurred a film that was followed by more Battle Royale books and movies (ie, the Hunger Games) and then video games like Fornite, PUBG, and Apex Legends. (More strange stuff stories.)
