Those who grew up watching Bill Nye on public TV never heard him quite like this before. The "science guy" continues to draw attention for his appearance on John Oliver's climate-themed show Sunday night, mainly because Nye dropped a number of f-bombs while making his points. "By the end of this century, if temperatures keep rising, the average temperature on earth could go up another 4 to 8 degrees," Nye said at one point, per CBS News. "What I'm saying is, the planet's on f---ing fire." At which point, he set a globe on fire.

He then pointed out that lawmakers have several options with which they could put out the fire. "Are any of them free? No, of course not, you idiots. Grow the f--- up," he says. "I didn't mind explaining photosynthesis to you when you were 12, but you're adults now. This is an actual crisis, got it? Safety glasses off, motherf---ers." Typical reaction: "I just heard Bill Nye swear and it's blowing my mind," tweeted one viewer. (More Bill Nye stories.)
