Britney Spears "should not be going back to do this Vegas residency—not in the near future and possibly never again," according to her longtime manager. Larry Rudolph provides background on the January decision to postpone the start of Spears' latest Las Vegas residency in an interview with TMZ, noting "her meds stopped working and she was distraught over her dad's illness." Now, "she hasn't called me in months. Crickets. She clearly doesn't want to perform," and "I don't want her to work again 'till she's ready, physically, mentally and passionately," Rudolph says. He describes a stark change in the singer, who struggles with bipolar disorder, noting "last summer, when she wanted to tour, she called me every day."

Fans have been pondering Spears' mental state for weeks as she checked into a mental health facility and complained of harassment by former manager Sam Lutfi. "Just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me. All is well," Spears said in a Instagram video posted in April. "My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal." Alongside her parents, Spears attended a closed court hearing Friday, leading to suggestions that "significant changes might be coming" to her conservatorship, per the AP. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ordered a 730 expert evaluation, usually used to evaluate the mental health of a parent in a divorce case, though it isn't clear to whom it applies.
