A guy tweeted a photo of an "absolute unit" of a sheep and now claims he's Tesla's social media strategist. It's a fascinating story best digested once CEO Elon Musk's passion for Internet culture is understood. It turns out Musk spotted a reference to the viral April 2018 image shared by Adam Koszary—who operated the Twitter account for the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading, England—in a separate tweet from the MIT Technology Review, per Mashable. A little late to the punch, Musk responded to the MIT tweet and then swapped his profile photo for the viral image of the Exmoor Horn ram last month, adding "absolut unit" to his bio line, per the Independent. Koszary then swapped the museum's profile photo for one of Musk and changed the museum's Twitter name to the "Muskeum of Elongish Rural Life."
The whole thing went on for quite a while. "I didn't coordinate this with Elon Musk. It was just weird and it just happened. The best I could do was react," explained Koszary, who also petitioned Musk to judge sheep at a farming festival, promising that he could "fire the winner into space." And, perhaps, job interview complete. Koszary, who had in April announced he was leaving the museum to become the social media editor for the Royal Academy, suddenly changed his tune on Tuesday. "I'm no longer moving to the Royal Academy. Instead, I'll be Tesla's Social Media Manager from July," he wrote in a tweet from his personal account, per the BBC. Though Musk and Tesla have yet to confirm the news, the MIT Technology Review has asked Musk for a referral bonus. (Musk also recently rapped about a gorilla.)
