Country singer Granger Smith and his wife, Amber, have announced the death of their 3-year-old son, River, CNN reports. "Our family is devastated and heartbroken," Smith posted Thursday on Instagram, saying that their son could not be revived by doctors after "a tragic accident." His wife also posted the heartbreaking news on Instagram. Smith had been scheduled to perform Wednesday at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, the Tennessean reports. After the Instagram posting, celebrities including Luke Bryan, Maren Morris, and Jason Aldean posted their condolences, per E! Online.

The couple are also parents to London, 7, and Lincoln Monarch, 5. "Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately," the Smiths said in their posts. "The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed." (Country singer Justin Carter was killed in an accident in March.)
