Wednesday was the one-year anniversary of the death of Kate Spade, who took her own life at the age of 55, and the designer's husband made sure the day didn't pass without a heartfelt tribute to his "Superwoman." In a Thursday Instagram post, Andy Spade noted that he and Frances Beatrix, the couple's 14-year-old daughter, had planted a tiny Christmas tree outside their new California home "to keep your magical spirit and energy close to us everyday." He went on to praise Kate for a variety of good qualities—including her "boundless generosity," "unflappable honesty," "kindness to all living things," and "conviction to your ideals"—and passions shared by them both, including the "Golden Rule," Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, and "millions [of] other things [that] bound us together like superglue."

He also relayed some details on the intimate connection the two of them shared. "You called me out on my bulls--- yet were nonjudgmental," he wrote. "You were my best friend, my confidant, my partner in life, business and mischief. The ying to my yang and the zig to my zag. We played ping pong with ideas." People notes Andy Spade has used his Instagram before to remember his late wife, including in October, when he put up a pic of another Christmas tree and foretold about his home's soon-to-come addition, writing, "Planting a Christmas tree in my yard so I never forget the beauty of her." Also paying tribute to Kate, per E! Online: brother-in-law David Spade, who posted a photo of the two of them together on Instagram, and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan, Kate Spade's niece, who also took to Instagram with an old pic of her aunt, along with the caption, "Missing Katy B today."
