Beach Boys icon Brian Wilson has long struggled with mental health issues, and a troubling new re-emergence has forced him to postpone an upcoming US tour, reports the Guardian. Wilson himself let fans know in an open letter. "I’ve been struggling with stuff in my head and saying things I don’t mean and I don’t know why," he writes. It's "something i’ve never dealt with before and we cant quite figure it out just yet." Wilson says he plans to rest and work with his doctors, and he anticipates a full recovery.
The 76-year-old had been scheduled to start his Pet Sounds and Greatest Hits tour in June until the new issues surfaced, reports People. Wilson explains that the trouble began after a recent back surgery, when he "started feeling strange" and not like himself. "Mentally insecure is how I'd describe it." Wilson has previously said that he began having auditory hallucinations decades ago after experimenting with LSD. “Lots of the music I’ve made has been my way of trying to get rid of these voices,” he wrote in his 2016 autobiography, I Am Brian Wilson.
