At Havana Terminal, Cruise Ships Replaced by Russian Warship

There were echoes of the Cold War on Monday as one of the Russian Navy's most advanced frigates and several support vessels made their way into the port of Havana, with an American warship watching from just a few miles away. The Admiral Gorshkov, which is armed with cruise missiles, left Russia in February and made stops in Djibouti, Sri Lanka, and China on its way to the Caribbean via the Panama Canal, RT reports. The exact purpose of the trip to Cuba is unclear, though it is seen as a projection of Russian military power close to US shores, reports the AP, which notes that in what Cubans saw as "a potent sign of changing times," the Russian vessel docked at the same terminal used by American cruise ships until earlier this month.
