Mitch Petrus, an offensive lineman on the New York Giants when they won the Super Bowl in 2012, died Thursday in Arkansas of heatstroke. He became ill while working outdoors at his parents' shop, CNN reports. Petrus, 32, was drinking water while working, his mother said, but did not get enough electrolytes. He was taken to a hospital in North Little Rock, where he died. The coroner said Petrus, who retired from the NFL in 2013, did not appear to have any pre-existing conditions.

Petrus was a walk-on at the University of Arkansas, per Fox News, who was drafted in the fifth round by the Giants in 2010. He played for the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans the year after the Giants won the Super Bowl, then retired. Petrus moved back to Arkansas and worked in TV on high school football games. He also played bass in a band, Vikings of the North Atlantic, his Twitter page notes. He worked as chief of staff for the state Senate's president in 2018. Arkansas' football program posted a tweet remembering Petrus as "an outstanding competitor, incredible teammate and a true Hog." (Read more obituaries here.)
