Amazon Pulling Plug on Dash

Say goodbye to 'perplexing' button that you pushed to order stuff with

(Newser) – Four years after its launch, the Amazon Dash button is headed for the scrap heap. Amazon is pulling the plug on what CNN calls one of its more "perplexing" offerings, and it offers up a primer on the apparently seldom-used product, calling it "for people who liked to reorder very specific products from Amazon in the moment, instead of minutes later after they opened the Amazon app." CNET first reported that Dash will be dead as of Aug. 31, when it will simply stop ordering your laundry detergent and condoms. What you'll get instead is a 2D version of Dash buttons on Amazon's site, app, and Echo (also fancy Samsung touch-screen refrigerators, if you're into that sort of thing) that Amazon has automatically created for all current users.
