Disgraced financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein is dead, apparently after taking his own life Friday night in his New York City jail cell, three law enforcement officials tell ABC News. Per the New York Times, the 66-year-old reportedly hung himself, and he was found around 7:30am Saturday morning. Sources tell NBC News that Epstein was taken from the prison to a hospital in lower Manhattan, where he was in cardiac arrest upon arrival. His death comes nearly three weeks after he was found injured in his cell at Metropolitan Correctional Center; he'd been on suicide watch since.

TMZ notes a "big development" in his case emerged on Friday, with more than 2,000 just-unsealed pages from a lawsuit revealing even more "bombshells." Those include allegations by one of his accusers that Epstein had directed her to have sex with a slew of powerful men; a report from a former house manager that he saw "probably over 100" girls cater to Epstein at his Palm Beach, Fla., home; and the recovery by Palm Beach cops of receipts showing Epstein had ordered books about sadomasochism and sex slaves from Amazon, per the Daily Beast. Details are still emerging on Epstein's death; check back for further developments. (More Jeffrey Epstein stories.)
