A Spanish singer lost her life Sunday when an exploding firework struck her onstage and left the audience in stunned silence, the BBC reports. Joana Sainz Garcia was performing near Madrid with a 15-member group of musicians, singers, and dancers when the cartridge knocked her unconscious at about 2am local time. A nurse and doctor who were apparently in the audience tended to the 30-year-old singer and dancer, who was later pronounced dead at a hospital. "She always showed an exemplary behavior, both personal and artistic, in addition to a great human quality," said the show's promoter on Facebook.

"It's going to be for all of us very difficult to overcome her absence," the promoter added. "We will always remember you, Joana. R.I.P." The Super Hollywood Orchestra show was part of a four-day festival in the province of Avila, where the provincial council president, Carlos García González, has called for local authorities to look into her death, Newsweek reports. The performer's family must "find some comfort in the face of such an irreparable loss," he said. Her death is captured in a YouTube video that's not easy to watch. (More celebrity death stories.)
