Country singer Kylie Rae Harris posted an emotional Instagram story Wednesday about her childhood memories of New Mexico. Hours later, she died there. Police say the 30-year-old Texan was killed in a three-car crash on State Road 522 along with another driver, a 16-year-old girl, the AP reports. Harris was on her way to Taos, where she was scheduled to perform at the Big Barn Dance Music Festival Thursday, reports Today. Police say alcohol was a factor in a crash, but they haven't disclosed which of the three drivers was drinking. "Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music," her manager said in a statement. "The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you."

In her Instagram story, Harris said visiting Taos was difficult because family members who lived there when she was a child had died, CBS reports. "Driving these roads today, I have been driving for almost 12 hours and you would think that's so exhausting and boring but the last couple of hours driving through the mountains and just remembering my place in the backseat as a little kid ... I started getting really sad and then all of a sudden these random cows show up in the middle of the road," she wrote. Harris is survived by her 6-year-old daughter. Festival organizer Sarah Hearne says musicians will be dedicating their performances this weekend to Harris, whose career "was just ready to take off." "They're going to play their hearts out. That's what she would have wanted," Hearne says. (More country music stories.)
