Nearly four months ago, Alex Trebek delivered the "mind-boggling" news to fans that his pancreatic cancer was "near remission." The Jeopardy! host was doing so well that his doctors even halted his chemo treatment, opting to use immunotherapy instead. Now, however, a bit of a setback: On Good Morning America Tuesday, Trebek told TJ Holmes that after stopping the rounds of chemotherapy, he dropped a lot of weight (12 pounds in one week) and "my numbers went sky high, much higher" than even the numbers he received during his initial diagnosis. "I was doing so well," he said. "My numbers went down to the equivalent of a normal human being who does not have pancreatic cancer. So we were all very optimistic."

What this new development means is that Trebek is once more undergoing chemo. The 79-year-old also revealed to Holmes how "cancer is mysterious in more ways than one," noting sometimes it leaves him with "excruciating pain," other times just wiped out. It has also affected his mental health. "I talk to the audience sometimes and I get teary-eyed for no reason," he said. "I don't even bother to explain it anymore, I just experience it. Trebek also said he's not afraid of dying, and that he's sticking with Jeopardy! until he's unable to. "As long as I can walk out and greet the audience and the contestants and run the game, I'm happy." He added: "One thing they will not say at my funeral is, 'Oh, he was taken from us too soon.' Hey guys, I'm 79 years old. I've had one helluva good life." More here. (More Alex Trebek stories.)
