KFC's New Offering Leaves Twitter Stunned
KFC's new offering.   (KFC)

Move over, Heart Attack Grill: KFC is pairing fried chicken with glazed doughnuts in meals that may just make your heart and soul glaze over. Called "Chicken and Donuts," the menu items include a sandwich—a chicken fillet bound by two glazed doughnuts—or, for basket lovers, chicken tenders or chicken on the bone with one or two doughnuts, Business Insider reports. The sandwich will run you $6 or $8 as a combo meal, while the chicken-and-doughnut ensemble will be $5.50 with one doughnut or $7.50 with two. Or add a hot doughnut to any other meal for $1. Word is the doughnuts will arrive pre-cooked in stores, and when ordered, will be lowered into fryers and covered in vanilla icing. Among social media reactions:

  • Blair Guild: "KFC wants us to die so badly."
  • RANsquawk: "I'm not one to bang the drum with 'clean eating' but this sounds absolutely horrendous."
  • Travis: "Road trip, anyone?"
  • Sarah Cooper: "This looks disgusting when can I try it."
Announced Tuesday, the new meals will be available at over 40 locations in Pittsburgh, Virginia, Norfolk, and Richmond. The new offering follows two other recent KFC inventions—Kentucky Fried Chicken and Waffles last year and, earlier this year, a test of the Cheeto-stuffed chicken sandwich in North Carolina, People reports.
