Saturday Night Live returned on the back of Emmy darling Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Saturday night, but the show opened with its now routine take on the chaos inside the Trump White house and celebrity cameo du jour—only notably this week without Alec Baldwin as the president himself, reports the Washington Post. Trump's absence was explained by Beck Bennett's Mike Pence, in a meeting with Kate McKinnon's Rudy Giuliani and Aidy Bryant's Bill Barr, as due to the president having a "meeting with an alligator breeder about filling a moat at the border." This week saw Matthew Broderick pop in as Mike Pompeo with a nod to Ferris Bueller ("Impeachment moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around, you might miss it.") Taylor Swift was musical guest. Highlights in the gallery. (More Saturday Night Live stories.)
