Ben Affleck has long struggled with sobriety, and a Saturday night incident in Los Angeles suggested he was having troubles again. The 47-year-old actor was seen leaving a West Hollywood hotel dressed up for a Halloween bash, stumbling in the street and having to use a nearby SUV to keep himself upright. On Sunday, TMZ caught up with Affleck as he pulled up to what's believed to be ex-wife Jennifer Garner's home, and the Batman star didn't try to deny what had happened the previous night. "Everybody's worried about you, but I see you're fine, man," one paparazzo noted to Affleck as he exited his car and approached the home. Affleck turned to the photographers and replied, "It happens. It was a slip. But I'm not going to let it derail me."

He didn't answer when another photographer asked him if he was going to check himself back into rehab. A source tells People that addressing the issue head-on was the right approach, saying, "You could tell that it wasn't an easy thing for him, but Ben owned his mistake. ... It was a smart move because now the story is basically over." Us Weekly reports that Affleck recently celebrated his one-year sobriety anniversary, with a source telling the magazine Garner has been one of his strongest supporters. In an Instagram post that went up hours before his Saturday night sighting, Affleck posted a promo for Midnight Mission, a group that helps the homeless, noting, "I have been in recovery for over a year and part of that is helping out others. ... I'm making a donation today because there are people battling addiction every day that don't have the resources and need help." (More Ben Affleck stories.)
