It's just so easy to get scammed these days, so thank goodness for North Carolina's Mint Hill Police Department. In a Monday Facebook post it alerted locals to a new such scheme, reports WBTV: one in which "untrustworthy" local drug dealers are fooling customers by placing a bag of drugs on their cell phone instead of a certified scale and using the calculator app to display a number they pass off as the purported weight. "They can type in whatever weight they want, claiming it was the weight agreed upon during your transaction," explain the officers. "Please do not become a victim of this scam."

But the MHPD can help: It's willing to weigh any drug purchases to ensure locals didn't get ripped off, so long as the buyer schedules a meeting with an officer. One commenter called the PSA "bloody brilliant." Another offered an additional tip: "As a public service the police department parking lot is designated a safe spot to conduct sales transactions. Call ahead and I am sure any one of the officers would be happy to supervise the exchange." (More strange stuff stories.)
