Dwyane Wade's 12-year-old son, Zion, was sporting long, painted fingernails and what may have been a crop top in the Thanksgiving photo posted to Instagram by his stepmom and Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union. Apparently some viewers took issue with his fashion choices and made their opinion clear in the comments section, prompting the former Miami Heat player to hit back on Twitter, CNN reports. "I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so i get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!"

Wade later tweeted, per USA Today: "As a parent my only goal is that my kids feel that i see them, love them and support them." He also retweeted this supportive reply: "Shout out D. Wade for setting the example of a Black father loving and accepting their children as they are. There’d be a lot less trauma in our community if more Black dads were like this." As for the decidedly not supportive comments, we waded into the comments section of Union's post so you didn't have to. Here's one example: "So sad these boys turning into girls ... it hurts my heart an he's young." CNN and USAT note Wade and Union have spoken out on the topics of inclusivity and acceptance before.
