Kill them with kindness, apparently? Or maybe a fire poker

If this holiday season sees you a little too full on peace and love and a little too low on treacherous, murderous politicians or people on the wrong end of the #MeToo movement, then Kevin Spacey is inexplicably here with a video for you. "You didn’t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas, did you?" Spacey says in the minute-long video. Spacey appears in character as his dead character Frank Underwood from House of Cards, in front of a fire, brandishing a fire poker, and wearing what People calls "a festive holiday sweater." The rest of the video goes thusly, but watch in the gallery yourself for the full effect:

  • "It’s been a pretty good year and I’m grateful to have my health back and in light of that I’ve made some changes in my life and I’d like to invite you to join me. As we walk into 2020 I want to cast my vote for more good in this world. Ah yes, I know what you’re thinking. ‘Could he be serious?’ I’m dead serious and it’s not that hard. Trust me. The next time someone does something you don’t like you can go on the attack but you can also hold your fire and do the unexpected, you can kill them with kindness."
Cue ominous music and Spacey stabbing the fire. (More Kevin Spacey stories.)
