An Orange Is the New Black alumnus is distressed at how climate change is affecting the world, and at her part in it—and so is putting "some skin in the game" to fight it. Yael Stone, who played Lorna Morello in the hit Netflix series, has long enjoyed a life on two continents, jetting back and forth for acting gigs between her native Australia and the US. Now, however, the 34-year-old actress and mom of one says she's giving up her green card and staying put Down Under, as she says the carbon emissions from her air travel are "environmentally unjust," per the Guardian. Stone's announcement came via social media, with videos on Instagram and Twitter that have her declaring, "This is war." "It's unethical for us to set up a life in two countries, knowing what we know," says Stone, who the West Australian notes moved back to Australia last February after living in New York for seven years.

"The carbon emissions alone from that flying ... It's not right," she adds. "So I will be going through the process of giving up my green card and saying goodbye to a life in America." She also mentions her upset at the bushfires devastating her own country, and rails against what she says is a lack of leadership in dealing with the issue. "I'm sitting in a dark room wondering what the hell is happening," she notes. "Our country is on fire ... and our prime minister has done absolutely nothing. Cold, calculated nothing. We don't have leaders, we have cowards." As for herself, she says, "This is just the beginning," imploring others to follow suit: "Let's make these sacrifices. Let's make these changes. Let's put some skin in the game and say, 'Yeah, I care, and this is what I'm going to do about it.'" (More Orange is the New Black stories.)
