Beyond Meat Exec Allegedly Bit Man's Nose in Parking Garage

Update: Beyond Meat has suspended its chief operations officer after he allegedly attacked a man in a parking garage dispute, biting him on his nose. For now, Jonathan Nelson, the plant-based meat company’s senior vice president of manufacturing operations, will take over the duties of Doug Ramsey, 53, CNBC reports. It's just the latest bit of bad news for the company, whose stock has fallen 75% this year. Our original story from Tuesday follows:

The chief operations officer of Beyond Meat was arrested on Saturday night after allegedly biting a man's nose after a University of Arkansas football game. In a parking garage near Razorback Stadium, after the Razorbacks beat Missouri State, police say Doug Ramsey was attempting to exit in his vehicle when the driver of another vehicle "inched his way" ahead of Ramsey and that vehicle made contact with one of the tires on Ramsey's vehicle, KNWA reports. Police say Ramsey then punched through the other vehicle's back window and got into an altercation with the other driver, Fox News reports.

Police say Ramsey threatened to kill the man, and that other drivers got out of their vehicles to separate the two. Ramsey allegedly "pulled [the other driver] in close and started punching his body," then "bit the owner’s nose, ripping the flesh on the tip of the nose." He was charged with terroristic threatening and third-degree battery. Ramsey became COO of Beyond Meat in December 2021 after having previously worked for Tyson Foods' poultry business since 1992, becoming president of its McDonald's business in 2019. He left Tyson last year. Some snark from the Verge on Ramsey's alleged crime: "Memo to Beyond Meat COO Doug Ramsey: human noses aren’t vegan." (More Beyond Meat stories.)
