It was deja vu all over again for Rep. Al Green, who for a second consecutive year was given the boot from President Trump's State of the Union address. NBC News reports the Texas Democrat was escorted out of the House chamber Tuesday night after holding up a sign reading, "Black People Aren't Apes," an apparent response to a Trump-posted video that depicted Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. The AP reports he was removed "barely two minutes into the address."

Politico reports House Majority Leader Steve Scalise "swiped at the sign" as he came into the chamber with Trump, and a number of GOP lawmakers attempted to get between the sign and the cameras. Green waved the sign toward Republicans as he was led out; GOP Rep. Troy Nehls appeared to try to grab it. Last year, Green was removed after shaking his cane at the president and heckling him in the opening minutes. Green has long pushed for Trump's impeachment and is among his most persistent critics.
