White House Doesn't Diss New Michelle Doll

The White House—which strongly objected to Malia and Sasha Obama dolls released earlier this year—declined to comment yesterday on an upcoming Michelle Obama doll. The 6-inch action figure seeks to capture the first lady's "muted, subdued, classy" style, says its maker Jailbreak Toys, which has been selling a Barack doll since last summer.

The Michelle doll has been in the works since early this year. "The entire political scene was a little rosier at the time," the firm's founder told CNN. "But what was really apparent was the country, and the world at large, were very enamored of this lady." The doll comes in a choice of three outfits, including the red-and-black number the first lady wore election night.
