One of the four men busted for allegedly tampering with the phones in Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu's New Orleans offices once helped train spies for an organization funded by US in telligence. Stanley Dai was the assistant director of the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence at Trinity Washington University for just over a year beginning in 2007, Newsweek reports.
The DC program, completely funded by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, was intended to encourage students to consider intelligence work and help prepare them for careers, said a university spokeswoman. While Dai worked for the center, it sponsored a symposium featuring top intelligence speakers and recruiters from the NSA, CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Dai was the key contact for the event. He is currently out on bail on felony charges along with James O'Keefe, who posed as a pimp on film last year to discredit activist organization ACORN.
