Dennis Hopper's wife has agreed to stay at least 10 feet away from her husband as the two bicker over their divorce. The agreement followed Hopper's request for an emergency restraining order, charging his wife of 14 years with "outrageous conduct." The two are fighting over child custody and issues concerning Hopper's Los Angeles house where wife Victoria, 42, still lives. The 10-foot "no man's land" between the two is important to reduce stress on the seriously ill actor as he begins new treatments for prostrate cancer, his attorney argued.

"My doctors and I are hopeful that this treatment will be successful so that I may soon resume the full enjoyment of my life and work," Hopper said. Victoria had claimed in court that the actor threatened her, smoked marijuana around their child, and that his illness affected his ability to make sound decisions as he tries to slice her out of her inheritance. As part of the agreement Hooper can now spend time each day with the couple's daughter, 6.
