Iran held its own nuclear summit today and delivered a clear message to the US: Right back at ya. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for worldwide destruction of nuclear weapons and said the best place to start is with the US arsenal, reports the Washington Post. The demand drew applause from representatives of the 60 nations in attendance, who passed images of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on their way into the assembly hall, notes the LA Times.

Noting that President Obama's nuclear policy does not rule out attacks on North Korea and Iran, Ahmadinejad declared: "Threatening with nuclear weapons only dishonored the American government officials and more fully exposed their inhumane and aggressive policies." He also criticized America's "blind support" of Israel. Supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini issued a statement calling US nuclear weapons "tools of terror and intimidation." (More Iran stories.)
