WASHINGTON (AP) — The Democratic National Committee raised $7.4 million last month but still owes vendors almost $2 million, according to financial reports filed Friday.

The DNC's filings also show it spent $5.8 million in August and has banked $11.2 million.

The Republican National Committee was expected to file its August report for how much it raised and how much it spent by Saturday's deadline.

The DNC has now raised almost $133 million since January 2013. Even without August's haul, the RNC has raised $140 million.

Heading into August, the RNC had outraised the DNC in 10 of the last 19 months. But the DNC prevailed in six of the first seven months this year.

The DNC continues to carry about $2 million in debt, although none of it is owed to banks. Its largest block of red ink is for direct mail firm Chapman Cubine Adams and Hussey. The DNC owes the Washington-area firm roughly $242,000.
