NEW YORK (AP) — With no love from the Tony Awards nominating committee, the play "Living on Love" will close May 3.

The gentle play written by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro is based on the play "Peccadillo" by Garson Kanin. It will have lasted less than 40 performances.

It stars four-time Grammy Award Renee Fleming, Anna Chlumsky, Douglas Sills and Jerry O'Connell. It is directed by Kathleen Marshall.

The show earned no nominations Tuesday and needed something to goose box office receipts. Last week, it grossed only about 16 percent of its $957,000 potential.

Set in 1957, the play centers on an aging soprano, played by Fleming, whose marriage to a conductor reaches a crisis point when they each hire ghost writers to help with their autobiographies.
